コース状況／危険箇所等

道に歩くが多いのでハイキングブーツは不要です。
So much road walking it would have been better to wear my street walking shoes over the hiking boots.
最後の天童山の部分は雨後絶対滑りやすい。ルートあまりない。
The last section near Dendosan will be impossible after a rain. It will probably be super muddy. Also there are not too many signs.

OK... after 13km I'm finally getting off the asphalt and getting on a trail!

Trail is not well defined or signed. Using the 山と高原地図app and GPS helped me double check my headings was needed. Make sure you get to the 6 Jizo then reorientate from there.

After heading down and through a campground (they have a restaurant and vending machines) you end up on a mountain road that becomes like this near the end.

The last section is up in the trees and starts from here.

There is no route I could find so I used these white strings on the trees to make my way up. The ridge line is pretty much visible and that is the goal.

I popped up on the ridge line here. Doing this section after a rain would be near impossible as I can imagine all the soft soil gets really muddy. Also there's not much in terms of trail markers here. Just stay on the ridge line. This is some difficult, undeveloped hiking. No wonder the map says 2hr30 min to head along this ridge going back east from here.

Back on the Kyoto Loop from here. Generally much easier to find your way, but this section seems unused. (I did not see anyone on the trail the entire day)

So I cut of the loop to make a quicker decent into the valley as needed to head to Shunan and get the bus. This trail is on the Yama to Kōgen maps but not the Kyoto Trail maps. Not too hard but there were some messy areas.

Trail pops you out at this beautiful shrine. Great way to finish the hike.

A lot of road walking but a lovely day. Don't wear your boots, good walking shoes would be fine here. Now that I have connected the two Kyoto Loops it's time to finish the North loop including that one spur at the top.
