5合目までは樹林帯でのんびり森林浴🌲🐿️
森林限界を抜けた６合目から徐々に傾斜アップ⤴️つづら折りの急登が始まりる
８合目の長官山で初めて山頂を望むと、避難小屋のある鞍部まで一旦下る
9合目からは浮石が多く足元ぐらぐら⚠️
下山が思った以上に体力奪われるので、ペース配分と水分補給大事！

利尻山（別名「利尻富士」)–日本の百名山のひとつ 🏞️
📍 北海道利尻郡 | 標高: 1,721m |
海から美しい姿で屹立していて、360度のパノラマが楽しめる。晴れた日には、利尻島や礼文島、サハリンが見える。

雨風の強い日に、利尻山へ登った。天気予報では雨のち晴れ。登山口に着いた時点で空はどんよりと暗く、霧が立ちこめ、雨が降っていた。迷ったが、せっかく来たのだからと覚悟を決めて登山開始！
5合目までは樹林帯の中を進むため、風はまだ穏やかだった。驚いたことに、こんな雨の中🐿️がご挨拶しに顔を出してくれた！雨に濡れた葉の音や、足元のぬかるみはあったものの、ゆるやかな登りで、気持ちもまだ余裕があった。しかし6合目を過ぎて森林限界を超えると、風景が一変する。つづら折りの急登を黙々と登り、8合目の長官山に到着。しかしそこから見えるはずの山頂は、真っ白な霧に包まれて何も見えない🥲少し下って避難小屋で30分くらい休憩を取った。体はすでに冷えきっていた。あったい飲み物を飲んで暖をとった。9合目以降の道は浮石が多く、濡れて滑りやすい。不安定な足場を慎重に足を運びながら登っていく。
ようやく山頂に到着したとき、雨は止んだが、周囲は相変わらず白一色😭たまに雲の隙間から景色がチラッと😶‍🌫️それでも、「登りきった」という達成感はしっかりとあった！景色ではなく、過酷な状況を乗り越えた経験そのものが、今回のごほうびだったのかもしれない。
下山も決して楽ではなかった。風が一気に強まり、レインウェアが体に貼りつき、ストックをついて前傾低姿勢でないと飛ばされそうなほどの強風に、足を止めて耐える場面もあった！濡れた道は滑りやすく、足元を常に意識しながらの歩行。集中力を切らさないように注意した。無事に登山口まで戻ってきた時には、靴の中までびしょびしょだったが、不思議と清々しい気持ちだった。

今回の登山で、山の厳しさと自然の力を痛感した。無理をせず、慎重に行動することの大切さを学んだ。利尻山の絶景まではいかなかったがチラッとみれたし、それ以上に忘れられない山になった。

This iconic mountain rises majestically from the sea, offering a breathtaking 360° panoramic view. On clear days, you can see Rishiri Island, Rebun Island, and even Sakhalin.

I climbed Rishiri-zan on a day with heavy rain and strong winds. The forecast had said "rain then clearing," but when I arrived at the trailhead, the sky was dark, misty, and already raining. I hesitated, but thought, “I came all this way?might as well go for it!”
Up to the 5th station, the trail winds through forest, so the wind was still relatively calm. Surprisingly, even in the rain, a little squirrel 🐿️ popped out to say hello! The sound of raindrops on leaves and the soft, muddy trail actually made for a peaceful hike, and I still felt pretty good.
But things changed dramatically after the 6th station, when I crossed the tree line. The switchbacks became steeper, the wind picked up, and visibility dropped. I trudged on in silence until I reached Chokan-yama (8th station), but the summit?usually visible from here?was completely hidden in a thick white fog 🥲.
After descending a little to the emergency hut, I took a 30-minute break. I was already chilled to the bone, so a warm drink helped bring me back to life. From the 9th station onward, the trail became rougher and full of loose rocks, made even more slippery by the rain. Every step required careful focus.
When I finally reached the summit, the rain had stopped?but I was still surrounded by a white, cloudy world 😭. Occasionally, the clouds would break just enough to offer a quick glimpse of the view 😶‍🌫️. Even without a full panorama, I felt a deep sense of accomplishment just having made it to the top. It wasn’t the view, but the experience of overcoming the harsh conditions that felt like the real reward.
The descent was no easier. The wind picked up suddenly, my rain gear clung to my body, and I had to lean forward and use my trekking poles to keep from being blown over. The slippery path forced me to focus constantly on my footing, and I had to stay alert to avoid accidents. By the time I made it back to the trailhead, my boots were soaked inside and out?but somehow, I felt refreshed and at peace.

This climb taught me a lot about the power and severity of nature. It reminded me of the importance of moving carefully, knowing my limits, and respecting the mountain. I didn’t get the full scenic payoff, but I did catch a few fleeting views?and more importantly, I gained a lasting memory of Rishiri-zan that I’ll never forget.
