We parked at the 茅ヶ岳駐車場 which is next to 深田記念公園. The area has a basic toilet for men and women.

Some sections were a little bit muddy but there was no risk of ice.

After we finished we went to 湯めみの丘 onsen. It is close and a great place to relax! The outside bath has a great view and the inside has several different temperatures of baths to relax the muscles. It cost 700円 per adult.

It was a hazy day but the view of the surrounding mountains was great.

Made it to the summit! We had a bit of an aggressive pace but we only needed a short break at the top to recharge before the descent.

We both were able to get a little time off of work to take advantage of a warm weather day in March. At first I was a little worried about starting this climb after 12:00pm wondering if we had enough daylight.

The truth is, last time I did this climb I got a little lost on the way down and ended up adding about 1-2 hours to the climb so I made sure to pack a head lamp, some extra water, and a few extra layers of clothes just in case we had to return in the dark.

That turned out to be no problem because we climbed this mountain MUCH faster than expected. I was sure it would take 3.5 hours to climb but it only took less than three hours to finish.

During the ascent we only took two or three very short breaks to eat a little food and drink some water. Because of this we were both sweating pretty hard during the most difficult part of the climb. On the dark side of mountain there was still a little bit of snow remaining from the storm that came about 3 days before but there was no ice to worry about.

On the ascent we only saw three people and on the descent we saw about 6 people from a local high school climbing club doing some training. The trees were still in their winter mode so it felt like a late autumn hike.

Both of us were very happy to get this warm-up climb under our belts before trying some more challenging peaks like 甲斐駒ケ岳.
