電車 バス ケーブルカー（ロープウェイ／リフト）

We took a direct train to Oume from Shinjuku JR line platform 11, changing for the train to Okutama for Mitaka, taking a bus from Mitaka to the foot of the cable car. The walk from the station to the is about 2.6km and quite steep, but the connection between the train and the bus was good. Altogether about 2.5 hours - long!

コース状況／危険箇所等

The initial descent down to Nanayo no Taki is a normal Japanese mountain path, a little rough and rocky and steep in some places while the rock garden path blends very nicely into the natural environment. The path back from the end of the rock garden to Mt Mitake is can be used by a light truck, which also means this is a very easy route to start the climb up Mt Large Mountain (大岳山)

感想

The main focus of this walk was the "Rock Garden" - a very picturesque section of trail that follows the course of the stream that ends in the Nanayo Waterfall. I understand that this area was maintained by Tokyo City as a mini park, and the path is very sympathetically maintained in the very beautiful natural environment. This would be a particularly good walk in the autumn given many of the trees lining the route are momiji.

The only practical point is that despite being in Tokyo you would be lucky to be able to get there in less than 2 to 2.5 hours given the combination of trains, buses and cable cars needed.
