This is the insect observation on Mt. Chausu(茶臼山).
I caught two Golden-ringed dragonflies (a male and a female)(鬼蜻蜓・Anotogaster sieboldii (Sélys, 1854)) on the summit of Mt.Chausu.
I caught two Takane dragonflies (a male and a female); Brilliant emeralds(高嶺蜻蛉・Somatochlora uchidai (Forster, 1909)), a male risu-akane; a Ris darter(Sympetrum risi risi (Sélys, 1872)), and a male neki dragonfly(根黄蜻蛉・Sympetrum speciosum speciosum (Oguma, 1915)).
I was very disappointed that I couldn't catch a male Oh-ruriboshi yamma; a Siberian hawker because he was flying high.
It was a little hard to climb because the altitude was a little high and the oxygen concentration was slightly low.
This time I visited the source of the Yahagi River(矢矧川) for the first time.
"Yahagi(矢矧)" means "to make arrows". This name comes from the legend that a long long time ago, "Yamato Rakeru no Mikoto(日本武尊)" made many arrows in this river.
"Chausu(茶臼)" means the millstone for grinding Japanese green tea leaves. It was named this way because the shape of this mountain is trapezoidal, with a flat top near the top, similar to a tea millstone.

昆虫観察です。
茶臼山 絶巓(ぜってん)でオニヤンマ♂♀(鬼蜻蜓・Anotogaster sieboldii (Sélys, 1854))1頭ずつの2頭捕獲し、撮影しました。
岳麓(がくろく)でタカネトンボ♂♀(高嶺蜻蛉・Somatochlora uchidai (Forster, 1909))1頭ずつの2頭、リスアカネ♂(Sympetrum risi risi (Sélys, 1872))1頭、ネキトンボ♂(根黄蜻蛉・Sympetrum speciosum speciosum (Oguma, 1915))1頭を捕獲し、撮影しました。
池にオオルリボシヤンマ♂が1頭飛んでいましたが、巍(たか)いところの為捕獲できず残念でした。
標高が少し峻(たか)く酸素濃度が稀(うす)い為か登りは若干しんどく感じました。
初めて矢矧川(やはぎがわ)の源流に寄りました。
矢矧とは「矢を矧(は)ぐ(＝矢を造る)」から来ており、大昔に日本武尊(ヤマトタケルノミコト)がこの川で沢山の矢を矧いだという伝説に拠ります。
茶臼は、日本茶の茶葉を挽(ひ)く茶臼石から来ています。山の形が山巓(さんてん)が平らな台形型をしており、茶臼石の形に似ていることからこのように呼ばれています。
