感想

ロゼッタの軌跡

マッターホルンの試験登山として、リッフェンホルンに挑戦。
元々、お金を節約したいのもあって、日本で登山経験が豊富なので試験なしでも大丈夫だと主張したが
「These are for sure big mountains in Japan but not really comparable with climbing Matterhorrn.」
と返されて諦めた。
リッフェンホルンは50m6ピッチ。
自分は外岩は大して登れないが、それでも基本的に難しいところはなかった。
登ったあとは懸垂加工の練習と、ロープを掴んで登る練習をして終了。
無事合格をするが、予定日の明日と明後日は大雪の予報だから、明後日にオフィスに来てまた話そうと言われた。
終わった後はゴルナーグラードまでハイキングをした。
結局雪がたくさん降ってしまったのと、自分がこれ以上日程を伸ばすことができないため、マッターホルン登山を諦めることとなった。
いつかかならず登頂したいと思う。

I climbed the Riffelhorn as a test for the Matterhorn.
I wanted to save money, so I insisted that I could climb the Matterhorn without a test climb since I have a lot of experience climbing in Japan. However, the guide replied, 'These are for sure big mountains in Japan, but not really comparable with climbing the Matterhorn.' I then gave up on my plan to save money.
The Riffelhorn climb was 6 pitches, each 50 meters long.
Even though I'm not a very skilled climber, I found this route wasn't particularly difficult.
After the climb, I practiced rappelling and ascending the rope.
I passed the test, but the guide told me that because of heavy snow expected tomorrow, we couldn't climb the day after tomorrow. He said to come to the office in two days to talk.
After the test climb, I hiked to Gornergrat.
In the end, I had to give up on climbing the Matterhorn because of the heavy snowfall and because I couldn't extend my stay in Zermatt.
I hope to climb the Matterhorn someday.
