Out: Chuo line train from Shinjuku platform 12 to Takao, then a bus from north exit bus stop 1, at 08:35 to 'jinba kougen shita' (陣馬高原下), the last stop.

The bus was about a third full on a weekday morning. It may be wise to arrive early at the weekend or during the 'kouyou' season to make sure you get a place. Buses are hourly and the ride is quite long - maybe 5,000 to 6,000 if you took a taxi.

Back: Takao-san guchi Keio line express to Shinjuku. One reason why this route is so convenient.

This is an extremely popular and well maintained route with no dangerous points but rather many conveniences - toilets, places for water, food etc.

The facilities on Shiroyama are particularly good, with very seating under Japanese momiji, which should look very picturesque in autumn, and even coffee from a china cup.

Mount Fuji from Mount Jinba - success rate with getting a clear view of Mount Fuji 30-40%, but I haven't been in the winter so often when a good view is far more likely.

Seems a good chance that this might be Amanita Caesarea - Ceaser's Mushroom, a delicacy known to the Romans. A great route for a longer hike connecting four mountains all with great views of Mount Fuji or the Kanto Plain or both. The paths are all well maintained and very safe, the transport connection at the end of the route is also excellent as you come almost directly to Takao-san guchi station. Good in any season but should also be great in the Autumn.
