Tram to Ashiya--over ridges and hills on right of the valley, to Isinglass farm. Called this walk and climb "Niles View Ridge" as he was flying that day at Naruo. Here a blinding snow blizzard set in. Up ridges to Shrine near Bellevue--reached the Rock on Rokkosan at 2.20 p.m.--back via Short Cut and Linder's Grove.

Ashiya(芦屋) - river-bed below power station(発電所下の川床) - the Red Rock Ravine or Blind Man's Alley(赤石岩(ブラインド・マンズ・アレー)) - the rocks on left of Red Hut(赤岩の左の岩場) - Red Hut ridge(赤岩) - the Black Mountain(黒岩) - Arima Road(有馬道) - Bellevue(ベルビュー) - Rokkosan(六甲山) - the Rock(ドーントの別荘) - Short Cut(近道) - Kumochi(熊内)
Tram to Ashiya--took to river-bed below power station--turned back at the Red Rock Ravine or Blind Man's Alley on account of lack of rope. The B.G. had to lower the M.F.H. down on to a ledge by his walking stick hooked round the shoulder straps of his rucksack--in this ravine there are some red granite rocks as smooth as glass. Went further up the valley and took the rocks on left of Red Hut--up "Red Hut" ridge to top of the Black Mountain. Good rock climb--Arima Road to Bellevue and Rokkosan. / Malcolm and Gausden came up to tiffin at the Rock. Back via Short Cut and Kumochi.

Rikisha to Minatogawa tunnel--through Cremation Compound to Takatoriyama across country. Picked up Beazley and his dogs on the Daisanji road at foot of Takatoriyama. Took 2nd turning to left 300 yards past school to Tainohata. Shioya valley to Shioya. Tiffin with Smith and Beazley. / Back to Kobe by train.

Ashiya(芦屋) - the Ashiya Waterfall(芦屋の滝) - another waterfall(次の滝) - a chimney(チムニー) - west side of top of Black Mountain(黒岩の頂上から西側) - Arima Road(有馬道) - the Yagi-no-taki, or the Goats' Waterfall(ゴートの滝) - a rubble slide(岩石が砕けて集積した場所) - the Bellevue Road near Ramseger's house(ラムジーガーの屋敷近くのベルビュー) - the Rock(ロック) - Short Cut(近道) - Kasugano(春日野) - Kumochi(熊内)
Tram to Ashiya--the Ashiya Waterfall--followed stream for about one mile to another waterfall--stiff climb up a "chimney"--rope out--came out over west side of top of Black Mountain--crossed Arima Road--"discovered," the Yagi-no-taki, or the "Goats' Waterfall--the top fall is about 50 ft.--fine climb up a rubble slide to a ridge which eventually landed the goats on the Bellevue Road near Ramseger's house. Reached the Rock at 2.50 p.m. Back via Short Cut--Kasugano and Kumochi.
